Uttlesford CAB on Keep Warm in Uttlesford
How to stay warm and well this winter
Those in receipt of winter fuel allowance who can spare all or part of the payment this year, we are asking to please consider making a donation to Uttlesford CAB. The CAB would channel extra funding to help people save money on heating costs, including access to help with insulation; understand what financial help is available and manage any fuel-related debt. http://www.uttlesfordcab.org.uk/news/item/donating-back-your-winter-fuel-allowance
Refuse and recycling
Every Tuesday (Special arrangements apply to Christmas and New Year)
There are 3 wheelie bins: alternate collection of the green bin (dry recyclables) and black bin (non-recyclables) and a weekly collection of the brown bin (kitchen waste).
Bins should be left at the roadside, unless you are disabled. UDC will arrange collection of heavy items. Contact Environmental Services 01799 510510.
Garden Green Waste Collections 2019 will start on 16th January which will be the Wednesday following a green-lidded collection.
The red telephone box in the village near the pub is no longer in use – it is now a library!
The nearest local shop is Nisa, Stortford Road in Clavering. Waitrose and Tescos are in Saffron Walden.
There is a syndicate for delivery at the weekend. Contact David Forster on 550306.
Can be delivered (with other items). Contact Steve Davies on 0800 146 07

For power failure contact 0800 783 8838.

Not all properties are on main drains. Note that supplies can fail with the electricity.
Members of this syndicate give periodic estimates of the amount of oil they need and the syndicate then finds the most cost-effective price for the estimated total, from several companies. Prices are below those for single deliveries.

Buses & DaRT 1 mini bus
From April 10th 2016 local rural bus services are being replaced by a demand response service called DaRT 1, provided by Arrows Taxis (Essex) Ltd. Instead of using fixed routes with fixed stops and times, DaRT 1 customers book journeys with the operator in advance and are picked up from an agreed point – often their own home, a bus stop or local place of interest.
This service is funded by Essex County Council and operated by Arrow Taxis.
Telephone Arrow Taxis Essex Ltd on 01621 874411
